Success Story: Tank Adapter

02/10/26

One of the leading manufacturers for sports and recreational equipment asked Miniature Casting Corporation to convert an aluminum screw machine part to a zinc die casting. This tank adapter attaches to a CO2 tank and is subject to significant pressure. The original piece was machined from aluminum, and the challenges presented were in weight reduction, design, value added services and parting line specifications. Miniature Casting Corporation worked with the customer to sizeably reduce the mass as part of the conversion to a zinc die casting. The redesign allowed for tooling a long, narrow cored hole through the middle of the part with a diameter of 11/64” and 1-5/8” long. This resulted in a significant cost savings on value added services by extinguishing the need for a bored hole through the length of the piece. Value added services of tapping and a matte black e-coat finish complete the piece.
